Congratulations on becoming the U.S .Secretary of HHS! We have all be waiting and praying that one day this would happen! I am very good friends with Judy Mickovitz. As you know, she bravely sought to bring out truth and the way Fauci blocked her and destroyed her life is unconscionable!

The reason for writing to you is to bring awareness to the health benefits of tagatose, a natural sugar. I have been following the development of tagatose for a long time. For the mission of MAHA, I see no other solution that would have a bigger impact on health as tagatose.

You and I are keenly aware of the harms of sugar and high fructose corn syrup, as well as all the games the Consumer Brand Association, formally known as The Grocery Manufacturer’s Association, play with labeling of HFCS (high fructose corn syrup). For the longest time, tagatose has been in development hell.

D-tagatose is a rare monosaccharide that looks and tastes like sugar, and just basically is SUGAR! However, it has incredible health benefits and has a really low glycemic index. The FDA is incorrectly forcing the industry declare tagatose as a sugar on the label rather than a pre-biotic. Hence, a Nutrition Facts Panel with tagatose in it has to show a sugar content like it is sugar, when it is not. It really should be showing zero sugar.

If you simply make the FDA aware, they need to follow the court order that was sent to them over six months ago, tagatose could be labeled correctly, not as a sugar, so the sugar value would be zero on a label, the world would be a better place!

I am a formulator and am always looking for new innovative ingredients. I discovered that a company called Bonumose, has broken through the cost barrier of producing tagatose. The problem with the amazing tagatose is that it was always way too expensive to bring it to market. That is no longer the case!

I got so excited, I began to formulate the world’s most advanced electrolyte drink using tagatose as the main sweetener! My background is in developing anything cutting edge, from the most advanced AI in the world, to biophotonic red-light therapy, to frequency nutrients, and the list goes on.

Unlike conventional refined sugar, tagatose is the only sugar replacement with health benefits that may also contribute to reducing obesity in the United States. My newest product formulation now contains tagatose and I most likely will be the first to use it on a major scale in a product.

All my research points to tagatose as the way to go. However, we do have a big problem, its called the corrupt FDA. They are purposely blocking tagatose from being successful by requiring tagatose to be labeled the incorrect way. On a Nutrition Facts Panel or a Supplement Facts Panel, tagatose will have to show a high glycemic value and be labeled as sugar, when this is not true.

Other companies, unlike me, are afraid to put tagatose in their products because they are forced to show it labeled like sugar with a high glycemic index. Sadly, this is based on an outdated FDA labeling issue.

I know tagatose is the future and I am jumping 100% full in!

Secretary Kennedy, if you could direct the FDA to follow their own regulation and have tagatose labeled properly, this will be a tremendous help to support our shared vision for healthier Americans.

There will be no bigger bang for the buck, than simply getting tagatose labeled correctly!

An overabundance of sugar and HFCS in our food supply is MAHA enemy #1. The solution is easily available. It is actually already done! We just need to fix the FDA label issue, and we are all ready to go!

But an FDA Food Labeling Rule Directly Impedes Tagatose Adoption, Thus Keeping Americans Sick

Despite a federal court order, FDA (Oﬃce of Nutrition & Food Labeling) is purposely impeding a commonsense solution to sugar reduction and diet-related disease.
In August 2024, a federal court declared the FDA was “arbitrary and capricious” in enforcing a labeling regulation that forces food companies to count Tagatose as “Added Sugars” on food packages (Bonumose v. FDA, U.S. District Court for DC). FDA did not appeal the Order but has not updated its Tagatose labeling rule.
FDA’s labeling rule kills demand for Tagatose because food companies will not reformulate with Tagatose if it counts as “Added Sugars.” As a result, FDA knowingly denies consumers the chance to have better-for-you foods made with Tagatose instead of sugar or corn syrup.
Tagatose is a sweet plant material found in small quantities in some fruits and other plants. FDA admits Tagatose has health properties similar to dietary ﬁber. Microbes in the large intestine consume Tagatose and produce beneﬁcial short-chain fatty FDA admits Tagatose has a low glycemic index (3 on a scale of 1-to- 100), is low calorie (62% lower than sugar), and is good for dental health.
Tagatose is nearly a drop-in replacement for sucrose in food Tagatose is 92% as sweet as sucrose and has a pleasant ﬂavor. Tagatose replicates sucrose’s functionality in food production for ice cream, baked goods, confectionery, breakfast cereals, beverages, and all other food categories. Tagatose has positive health beneﬁts without sacriﬁcing taste or texture. It enables better-for-you foods people will willingly eat.
Tagatose can reduce our country’s sugar and corn syrup consumption – and help with diet-related diseases – while retaining the taste and texture consumers love about sugar. Production is globally scalable with Bonumose’s process and existing food ingredient value chains.
Bonumose (Charlottesville, VA) started its struggle with the FDA in February 2018 when Bonumose ﬁled a Citizen Petition seeking to have Tagatose exempted from the “Added Sugars” FDA denied Bonumose’s Citizen Petition in May 2022, despite Tagatose meeting the same criteria FDA announced in October 2020 when it exempted Allulose from “Added Sugars.” Allulose and Tagatose are quite similar, although Tagatose – which is a prebiotic – arguably has a better claim to being healthy. Judge Randolph Moss vacated the FDA’s May 2022 denial and remanded the matter to FDA. Six months later and there has been no movement.
Bonumose uncovered evidence of FDA fabricating data to attempt to support its position in the lawsuit, which arguably was perjury. Bonumose made the DOJ and FDA’s Oﬃce of Chief Counsel aware of the fabrications, but they apparently decided to ignore the issue. Bonumose also uncovered evidence of 7 years of bias against Bonumose – or bias against Tagatose because of its potential to improve health.

Exempting Tagatose from “Added Sugars” labeling – and ideally allowing Tagatose to be counted under “Dietary Fiber,” where it belongs – would be a quick, easy, MAHA victory, and a stark contrast to business as usual.

Bonumose has ample documentation for all of the above, including the health beneﬁts of Tagatose, the federal court Order, FDA’s data fabrication, and food industry support for Tagatose.
